Personal Development

‘Neville’s Cross is an inclusive family where all are nurtured to become creative, confident and resilient learners supported to reach their unique potential. Our children develop skills to become active and respectful members of our school, community and society and during their time at Neville’s Cross, make memories to cherish.’

Personal development at Neville’s Cross Primary School & Nursery is built around this core vision is also encapsulated in our school motto:

‘At Neville’s Cross we love to learn’

Our children are nurtured and encouraged to develop our school values: care and kindness, confidence, motivation, respect, resilience and independence.  Alongside these values, we promote and develop our children’s understanding and appreciation for the British Values, or as we prefer to call them, the Universal Values of Mutual Respect and Tolerance, Democracy, Individual Liberty and the Rule of Law. Equality and diversity are promoted and celebrated throughout school and we are proud of a curriculum which equips our children with the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead happy, safe and healthy lives whilst enabling them to achieve their full academic potential, develop their talents and strive for their goals.

Our personal development curriculum goes beyond the national curriculum. It offers learning experiences which ensure our children are fully prepared for life in modern Britain and indeed the modern world.

Personal Development at Neville’s Cross is threaded throughout school life, particularly in the following key areas:

  • Our PSHCE / RSE / ‘Jigsaw’ Curriculum
  • Our wider school curriculum; our ‘bucket lists’ and curriculum enrichment
  • Our equality and diversity work
  • Our Universal (British) Values work
  • Our Mental Health and Wellbeing commitments
  • Pupil responsibilities and pupil voice
